The Rodeo Team was introduced as Mesalands’ first intercollegiate sport in the fall semester of 1998.  The College is a member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and competes in the Grand Canyon Region. The College team is co-ed and competes in rodeos in the fall and spring.  Students must meet national eligibility guidelines and be enrolled full-time in order to participate in the college rodeos throughout the region.  The top athletes from the region compete in the College National Finals Rodeo in June each year.

Rodeo Club

The Rodeo Club offers students with an interest in rodeo the opportunity to develop their skills and participate in various rodeo events.  The club attends and hosts rodeos, team roping competitions, and dances.

Facilities

The Club and Team have use of a convenient, first-class, competition-size rodeo facility adjacent to the College.   Newly constructed enclosed stalls are available for horses.

Mesalands Community College's Farrier Science program facilities include a large, equipped indoor shoeing arena with individual anvils, forges, vises, and other specialty hand tools.  These customized facilities give the team an excellent place to do the shoe work and other necessities needed to keep their animals in top shape.
